Hello everyone. This will be the first post on my new blog. The old one through some quirk bccame un-usable for me.
I will start at the 2nd week of DTS so although it has been a long time since my last post wyou really did not miss that much.
Week two started with me losing my dad to pneumonia and infection. He was 85 yrs old and will be and is being missed. I did not return to Fl for the funeral as it was a simple 15min graveside event and my Mom did not want me to travel that far for that. So I decided not to go.
The strangest thing was during week 1 we listened to Lauren Cunningham the founder of YWAM. One of his talks was on giving up your rights and one of the rights he talked about was family. It really registered when I got the call about Dad.
Week two was very stressful for me what with the uncertaintity about the funeral and whether I should or could go or not. Once that was all straightend out things went smoothly.
Our speaker Bill and Bridgett Blatz, spoke on intimacy with God and discipleing the nations.
They do not really sound like compatible subjects but they were able to make them come to life and to show how one compliments the other.
Some of the quotes by Bill and Bridgett were quite profound. ie; "Reactions are a window to the soul" and "intimacy is what ignites revolution" another "all of mans trying will never make him acceptable to God"
Bill was kind of humorous and said "If you pray for patience, God may send all kinds of weird folks to give you patience" Funny but Oh so true.
ome other quotes and scriptures they used; "hope does not disappoint" Eph 5:21 Submit to one another out of reverence to Christ. "knowing about God is different than knowing God" John 17:3 Eternal life is knowing God and his son Jesus. other scriptures; Prov 14:10, Psalm 139: 1-4, 15-16, 2 cor 10:4-5, Num 1:1-2.2:32,13:17. One of my favorites Acts 26:18
Bill said that "revival will come served on a platter of adversity"
One of the main thingsI picked up on was the idea that we are to go and make disciples of all nations and also to spread the Good News to all creatures. That may not sound like much but what really hit home with me was the actual order in which we are to go and do. Making disciples first is really important. If we do then they in turn will want to go make other disciples and will be more successful with their own countrymen than we ever could. If on the other hand we only win souls for Christ we have indeed fulfilled part of the great commission but who is going to disciple them when we are not there?
Other im[portant points were made about influencing the whole of a nation instead of just the church. We all have various gifts and talents we should use in the diferent social and economic areas. ie Teachers and educators should get involved n the education syatem. Those in the medical field should use their gifts to serve the host country in medicine etc. by doing this we create a much broader base of christian influence in an nation.
